Name:
Logan Venable
From:
Originally from Wetumpka, Alabama, but for the last 23 years I’ve lived in the Orlando, Florida area.
Age: (optional)
I happy to say 50 years and 9 months
Occupation:
After 25 years in the computer industry, I’m now semi-retired.
How long have you been following racing?
I guess most of my life.
How did you get started?
Once, my father took me to Montgomery’s ½ mile asphalt track to watch his favorite drivers, Red Farmer and Fireball Roberts, race. After that, I was hooked.
Who was your first favorite driver, and why:
My first favorite driver was actually a gang of drivers from my home state. The Alabama Gang; Bobby Allison, Donnie Allison, Davey Allison & Neil Bonnett
Who is your favorite now, and why:
Dale Earnhardt Jr. Like Davey Allison, he was born with racing fuel in his blood. Both class acts, real gentlemen and legacies are hard to argue with.
What is your favorite driver’s best racing moment:
I think Dale Jr’s 2004 Daytona 500 victory was a pretty darn great moment.
How many races do you attend a year
I try to attend 3 or more races each year. Talladega, one of the Daytona races, and Homestead. I’d like to be able to attend races like Bristol and Michigan.
Best race you ever saw on TV or in person:
When Dale Jr. won the Fall 2004 Talladega race, he pulled up towards the wall to do his victory burnout. I was directly in front of him on the third row.
What a rush…..
What is your favorite track for racing:
There’s only one answer, Talladega.
If your favorite driver came to your town, where would take him and what would you do:
I’d take him out on the St. Johns River for some cruising, bass fishing, and maybe even consume a few of his sponsor’s products. After putting the boat back in storage, we’d hit his choice of our excellent local dining establishments
If you worked at DEI, what would you like to do:
I think building and tuning engines would be a dream come true.
If you ran NASCAR for a day, what rule would you change, add or delete:
If the cars could be engineered to keep all four tires on the ground, I would increase the size of restricter plate holes or eliminate the plates all together. I’d like to see cars with enough power to pull away from the 40+ car packs.
