Our first Fan of the Week for 2006 comes from a place that is probably cold and snowy as you read this. And, because the only racing going on right now is the local guys going from place to place for their race car parts, we thought we’d make Maurice (who we hear is called Big Moe) our first FoW.
Name: Maurice Lambert
From: Hooksett, New Hampshire
Age: 41
Occupation: I am an oil delivery driver.
How long have you been following racing: I’ve been following racing for 25 years.
How did you get started: It all began when I started driving on the local tracks in our area.
Who was your first favorite driver, and why: Dale Earnhardt, Sr. because I liked the way he drove.
Who is your favorite now, and why: Dale Earnhardt Jr. because I like him when he was running the Busch races and I stayed with him when he came to the Cup level.
What is your favorite driver’s best racing moment: It has to be when Dale Sr. and Jr. started racing at the same time in Cup races. Another is when Dale won the Daytona 500 in 1998 and when Jr. did it in 2004.
How many races do you attend a year: I got to both races when they come to Loudon, New Hampshire
Best race you ever saw on TV or in person: I would have to say the Daytona 500
What is your favorite track for racing: Bristol always has a good show.
If your favorite driver came to your town, where would take him and what would you do: I would have him come over to my house and have a big party for him with all my family and friends there.
If you worked at DEI, what would you like to do: I’d really like to drive the transporter.
If you ran NASCAR for a day, what rule would you change, add or delete: If you caused a crash by retaliating, you would be parked for one race.
