The call for new Fans of the Week was answered and here’s the person who came through first. We’re not sure if he owns a sports bar for people who like to howl at the races, or a place for dogs or certain residents of his hometown to hang out.
Either way, he was the first one to send in his submission with a picture. And, it’s a picture with our own Director of Competition, Tony Eury, Sr.
Name: David White
From: Washington D.C.
Age: 40
Occupation: Manager/Owner The Big Bad Woof
How long have you been following racing: I’ve been following it for six years
How did you get started: A close friend made me watch the Daytona 500 in 2001 and I liked the 8 car (they way it looked…….fast) so decided to follow that guy’s progress during the race and, well, we know how things went that year.
Who was your first favorite driver, and why: Dale Earnhardt Jr. Irreverent and funny,
but respects the history and drivers of the sport and he’s a damn good wheel man.
Who is your favorite now, and why: Dale Earnhardt, Jr.
What is your favorite driver’s best racing moment: Man, there are so many, but I still have to go with the Pepsi/Dayton 400 in 2001 only because that was the race that got me hooked. I have tried not missed a race since, if I can help it. I think I have missed a grand total of three since then.
How many races do you attend a year: I get to three races a year.
Best race you ever saw on TV or in person: In person, it was the 2006 Richmond race just last Saturday night because not only did Dale Jr. run well - he won. That is the first time I have been there in person to see the No. 8 run good and win. We will not talk about how bad we have been when I have gone to other races, lets just say I was beginning to think my friends and I where a jinx on the team. On TV – it was Dega in 2003 with that torn up front end taking the checkers. Man, that is a driver right there.
What is your favorite track for racing: Richmond, I guess that’s a tough question………or Dega
If your favorite driver came to your town, where would take him and what would you do: Take him to Red Dog café here in the DC area just so it would be relaxed and chill. I would also try and turn Dale Jr into a Tool (music group) fan.
If you worked at DEI, what would you like to do: I would like to handle the merchandise. I would make sure all three DEI drivers had classy, high-quality items for the fans that are much better than any other driver on the circuits. All the other stuff I would not have the ability to handle. Cars? I would be afraid I would ruin them.
If you ran NASCAR for a day, what rule would you change, add or delete: I would change the gear rule to give Richie and the motor program a break.
