This week, we headed all the way out to Tacoma, Washington to get our Fan of the Week. We didn’t actually go visit Robert, he visited us via email and by sending a pretty cool picture.
Seems racing really was in his blood when you check out his lineage and how he got interested in racing. But, the funny part is just WHERE his allegiance ended up, anyhow.
Name: Robert Pearson
From: Tacoma, Washington
Age: 45
Occupation: Disabled construction worker
How long have you been following racing: Since 1971
How did you get started: My Dad is David Pearson's cousin.
Who was your first favorite driver and why: Dale Earnhardt. When I finally got really interested in racing, I was graduating from high school in 1979 and Dale was a rookie. His number 3 excited me because my birthday is May 3 and the first year he won rookie of the year. I have been hooked since.
Who is your favorite now, and why: Dale Jr, because he didn’t quit racing after his Dad left us, and he drives a lot like his Dad.
What is your favorite driver’s best racing moment: Both Dale Sr and Jr's best racing moment is when they won the Daytona 500
How many races do you attend a year: I have never been to a NASCAR
Best race you ever saw on TV or in person: Was when Dale Sr won the Daytona 500 in 1998.
What is your favorite track for racing: Richmond
If your favorite driver came to your town, where would you take him and what would you do: I would charter a boat and go fishing in the Puget Sound for Salmon.
If you worked at DEI, what would you like to do: I would like to drive the hauler to every race.
If you ran NASCAR for a day, what rule would you change delete: I would change the single engine rule to two, if it was necessary, without having to start at the back of the pack if it was changed.
