For this edition, we headed to the land of Packers, Cheeseheads and some great racing talent for our Fan of the Week. This high school student is an Earnhardt fan through and through, which isn’t a bad thing.
Apparently, by checking his last answer, he’s a high school fan with an old school affection, too.
Name: Seth A. Schmidt
From: Wausau, Wisconsin
Age: 17
Occupation: School, track, football, work and tea kwon do
How long have you been following racing: I have been into for as long as I can remember
How did you get started: It began because I was watching it with my dad
Who was your first favorite driver, and why: Dale Earnhardt, the main reason was because my dad was a big fan then I really started to watch and realized he was/is the best driver to ever race a Cup car.
Who is your favorite now, and why: Still Earnhardt, but I would have to say June Bug. And, I like Truex, Jr because he reminds me a bit of Dale Jr when he first started. A driver not in DEI would have to be happy Harvick
What is your favorite driver’s best racing moment: So many Earnhardt wins, I would have to say winning The Daytona 500 and his last one at Talladega. For Jr., I would have to say his Daytona 500 win in 2004. But then again, winning the July race at Daytona in 2001 would another one.
How many races do you attend a year: My family and I have not yet had the chance to make it to a race. But, before I die, I really want to see any race.
Best race you ever saw on TV or in person: Wow, there have been so many. I would have to narrow it to six races - Earnhardt Sr’s Daytona 500, Jr’s 500, Jr’s Pepsi 400 win in 2001, Sr’s win at Bristol win he rattled Terry Labonte’s cage, Sr’s last win at Talladega, and Harvick’s win at Atlanta In 2001
What is your favorite track for racing: I would have to say all of them except for them darn flat tracks.
If your favorite driver came to your town, where would take him and what would you do: First thing is I would have to beat Jr at NASCAR for Play Station 2. Then after that really don’t know; whatever comes to mind, I guess.
If you worked at DEI, what would you like to do: Anything, I wouldn’t mind working on the engines cause me and my dad are going to build an engine to put in my Chevy S-10
If you ran NASCAR for a day, what rule would you change, add or delete: Well, I hope this doesn’t offend anyone, but I would make it Winston, not NEXTEL.
