Testing is underway, which for some folks is the official start of the season. Others opt for the Budweiser Shootout; and some say it’s the Daytona 500. Either way, cars on the track and that’s a step in the direction to get those green flags flying.
As far as our Fan of the Week, we headed up over the border of NC into the State of Virginia. When he’s not eating dust and working away, Gene spends time talking racing with his friends. This week, he’s talking it with all of you.

How did you get started: I have always had a passion for cars and speed.
Who was your first favorite driver, and why: Dale Earnhardt, Jr. because he's a very good and clean driver. He’s also a good sport, loves what he does and all out right. He’s just cool!!
Who is your favorite now, and why: Still and always will be - Junebug!!
What is your favorite driver’s best racing moment: Junior winning the
Daytona 500 in 2004
How many races do you attend a year: I try to get to at least one. Them tickets aren’t cheap. If I could, I would attend more.

What is your favorite track for racing: Talladega Baby!
If your favorite driver came to your town, where would take him and what would you do: Man, we would hang out and watch the Redskins, drink some Budweiser and just talk sports. Maybe we’d hit a sports bar. Oh, I'd introduce him to my NASCAR buddies, boy would they be jealous! That’s all a dream for me!
If you worked at DEI, what would you like to do: I'd try out to be on the pit crew.
If you ran NASCAR for a day, what rule would you change, add or delete: I would make sure there would always be a green flag finish.
