So, how did we find this week’s fan? Let’s see, its Race Weekend here in Charlotte and there are 1000’s of fans visiting Dale Earnhardt, Inc. In other words, it was easy.
But, this young woman stuck out due to her apparel. As a bonus, she said she does read the website on a regular basis. You just have to pick someone like that for the Fan of the Week.
Name: Amy Watt
From: New Alexandria, Penn.
Occupation: My family owns Watts Mack Sales there in New Alexandria.
What brings you to Dale Earnhardt, Inc. today: I’m in town for the races and had to come here because I’m such a big Earnhardt fan. This is my first visit.
Welcome to DEI, what did you think of our corporate headquarters: It’s awesome. I liked all the memorabilia, the way the place is laid out and it’s something that fans can appreciate.
What was your favorite part in the showroom: I liked the video of Dale winning the Daytona 500 in 1998. That, and being able to see the trophy from the race on display, too.
How many races do you get to a year: This is my second one this year and I usually make it to none. (Laughs) I went to Richmond last month.
Do you prefer watching races in person or on TV: If you can sit on the frontstretch, then in person. If not, then TV is the way to go, for me.
How do you usually watch them: At the house with some friends over.
How long have you been following racing: Forever, my family was into racing in Pennsylvania and my dad was always a big NASCAR fan. So, I’ve probably been following racing since the early 1980s.
Who was your favorite driver back then: I pulled for Richard Petty and then I went to Dale Earnhardt.
What made you a Dale fan: I liked him, the cars, the sponsors and some of his paint schemes. You could always find that black car on the track.
Name your favorite Dale moment: When he won the Daytona 500 in 1998.
Now I see you follow Dale Jr, why: I started pulling for Dale Jr. before 2001 and now I follow him and Michael both.
What is it you like about Dale Jr.: He’s kind of unique is his own way, especially his personality.
Favorite moment for him: When he won the Daytona 500 this year. That was pretty special.
If you could work at DEI, what would you like to do: I’d like to work on the cars detailing them and putting on all of those decals.
If you ran NASCAR for a day, what rule would you add, change or delete: I’d like to get rid of that freeze the field thing and race back to the caution.
What’s your favorite part about this website: I like the introduction where the headshots slide across the screen and then how it opens to the website. That’s pretty cool.
