Dan Kooima – September 9
This week’s fan has quite the collection of Dale and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. cars in his office. He sent in the answers to the questions and a photo of what he keeps on his office wall.
Imagine what he has at home, huh? This definitely earns him our Fan of the Week honors.
Name: Dan Kooima
From: Rock Valley, Iowa
Age: 44
Occupation: Auto Recycler, book keeper and phone sales
How long have you been following racing: Almost forever, but after the networks picked it up, I never miss it now.
How did you get started: My dad took me to local dirt racing and now I take my daughter.
Who was your first favorite driver, and why: Tim Richmond, because everybody loves a winner
Who is your favorite now, and why: Dale Jr, because I started to follow him after we lost Dale.
How many races do you attend a year: I get to two a year, Las Vegas and Kansas City
Best race you ever saw on TV or in person: Talladega when Ricky Craven almost flew out of the track and over the wall. I was there that year
What is your favorite track for racing: I like the big tracks like Daytona and Talladega.
If Dale Jr. came to your town, where would take him and what would you do: I’d bring Dale Jr. here to my office to show him my die cast collection of his and his dad’s. I’d take him a few other places; and to my wife’s work, but she’s a Jeffy (Gordon) fan.
If you worked at DEI, what would you like to do: I’d sweep the floors; or whatever they asked of me
If you ran NASCAR for a day, what rule would you change, add or delete: I don't know; that's tough. They do a real good job and I don't know if I'd want their job
