Guitar Hero Competition Winner
by Carol Roth, Roth - May 8, 2009

On Friday May 15 and Saturday May 16th Dale Earnhardt Inc. held its first Guitar Hero Competition at its facility during its annual Fan Celebration event. Crowds of fans from all across the country participated in 6 tournaments over the two days, which ultimately determined the winning score.

Late Saturday, just a few hours before the competition ended, Morgan Hicks of Winston Salem, NC arrived with his step-mother and brother. They had come to Dale Earnhardt Inc. to see all the displays including the new Elvis Presley Memorabilia and the Earnhardt Elvis 3 Chevrolet. Morgan nor his family, were aware of the competition, but as soon as he saw the familiar unit, impressive equipment and logo, he quickly seized not only the moment but also the entire competition.

With an incredible score of 139,856 on the guitar playing the song “Feel the Pain” by Dinosaur Jr, Morgan was the lucky winner and for his skills he received a limited edition Dale Earnhardt Tribute Concert Guitar which had been autographed by Teresa, Kerry, Jeffrey and Taylor Earnhardt.

Morgan could not believe his luck in obtaining such a prize and when he mentioned that he would like nothing more than to meet Taylor Earnhardt, it just took a few phone calls, before his wish was granted.

Taylor Earnhardt presented the guitar to Morgan in the public showroom of Dale Earnhardt Inc.

“This is just wonderful. I cannot believe it”, said Morgan. “I was not even going to come today, so I guess it was my lucky day. Being able to meet Taylor Earnhardt in person was the greatest” When asked how long he had been playing Guitar Hero, Morgan said that he played about 2 hours every day for the past 2 years. “I really enjoy it”, Morgan stated, and obviously with such a commanding win, it’s evident that Morgan has excelled.
