• Dale Earnhardt Inc. was co-founded by Dale and Teresa Earnhardt in 1980. This began a company that would become one of the most successful enterprises in NASCAR.
• Married Dale Earnhardt in 1982 and was instrumental in trademarking Dale’s image and signature, and was the pioneer for much of today’s NASCAR merchandising operations. To this day, Teresa remains actively involved in overseeing all of DEI’s business entities.
• Born Teresa Houston, daughter of Hal Houston, a sportsman racer in Hickory, N.C., and niece of Tommy Houston, legendary NASCAR Busch Series driver, Teresa has a degree in commercial art and interior design and is the only female team owner in the history of NASCAR to field Busch Series Championships – winning teams.
